Martha and Peyton Gentry

Martha and her husband, Peyton, own RE/MAX Prime Properties in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and have just opened a new office at Seven Lakes right outside of Pinehurst. Although Peyton and Martha are co-broker/owners, Martha operates as a single agent with her own team, while Peyton takes on the responsibilities of running the two offices. Martha's personal team sells over 300 homes per year and consistently ranks in the top ten for RE/MAX Carolinas and the top 50 teams nationally. Martha says, "We are a work in progress. Every time I think we've grown as much as possible, we add another team member." Her team has now grown to 18 and includes seven buyer specialists, a marketing team of two, and two marketing specialists.

Martha began her career in a small community over 30 years ago when real estate training was non-existent. She says she was so lucky to work for a broker who realized how important continuing education would be. And she continues to believe that her determination to learn everything she can from many different sources is the cornerstone of her success in real estate. From the start Martha claims she was an unlikely candidate for real estate as she was very shy and directionally challenged. But from the beginning she loved real estate and was successful. She opened her own company after five years of working as an agent, and then after ten years of running her own company the traditional way, she was burned out and wanted to quit. Peyton exposed her to a new way of doing business when he joined a local RE/MAX office and they attended his awards banquet, where she discovered the team concept from others in attendance. The rest, as they say, is history.
